I think you break anything, you have exctly the same files at the
same places but with 2.5 intead of 2.3.
If you wait about Apple to updtae some files in the system you can
wait for a long time.
Try to compile Asymptote, or gnuplot, you have to update a lot of
things.

and now python is 2.5.1
Python 2.5.1 for Macintosh OS X -- this is a universal installer that
runs native on both PPC and Intel Macs.
yes I take MacPython and no problem with the readme :
MacPython consists of the Python programming language
interpreter, plus a set of programs to allow easy
access to it for Mac users (an integrated development
environment, an applet builder), plus a set of pre-built
extension modules that open up specific Macintosh technologies
to Python programs (Carbon, AppleScript, Quicktime, more).
The installer puts the applications in "MacPython 2.5"
in your Applications folder, command-line tools in
/usr/local/bin and the underlying machinery in
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework.
