Try again now, it should work. I am not entirely happy with my
current solution, since it just loads /etc/profile at the final step,
but I guess it will have to do for now.
So, what happens when you type, in the terminal, "/usr/texbin/
kpsewhich"?

I'm not the one who wrote the command, but I'll try to see who it was
and try to figure out what is going on.
