Sorry if this is obvious:
Do you have the markdown plugin[1] installed in WP?

You don't need to alternate between html and markdown as you can use
html in markdown[2].

I don't know if this has any incidence, but I used "Markdown" instead
of "markdown" for the value of TM_BLOG_FORMAT.

BTW, you don't need to post the same questions multiple time, one is enough.
