I take it you are new to this list. There has been _a lot_ of 
discussion in the past about tabs and my current plan is to make it 
behave similar to Safari. So normally a file is opened in the active 
tab but holding down a qualifier (or similar) will open it in a new tab 
(and a new untitled tab can also be opened first, before opening a file 
etc.).
