If by “clean up” you want to transliterate them to ASCII then you 
can use Bundles → Text → Converting / Stripping → Transliterate to 
ASCII (hint: use ⌃⌘T and enter ‘tran’ or ‘ascii’ to quickly 
get at it).

The same submenu also has a function to remove unprintable characters.
