Hi Christian,
With the help of Charles on the list, I have solved this problem by tweeking the latex.tmbundle: essentially change a few lines (substituting biber for bibtex) in texMate.py in Support/bin and have the most recent latexmk.pl.  I also slightly changed LaTeXUtils.rb in Support/lib, so citations completions (Ref-TeX Style) can work with biblatex requirements (using \addbibresource). Please write me if you want this tweeked bundle which you can put in Application Support/Avian/Bundles/
