Not really, and that would give you a lot of problems when updating bundles
in the future. I really recommend switching to US keyboard layout. I did
that a year ago and haven't looked back. I use US layout in all programs
and access my national characters with the help of a macro program
(Typinator in my case). So to get Ö for instance, I type  .Oe. This works
great for me, but YMMV of course.
