Well, to answer my own question (probably crudely), in lint-gcc.rb:

  $BINARY   = "/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ 
1.6.0/Home/bin/java -jar '#{$SUPPORT}/bin/compiler.jar' -- 
warning_level VERBOSE"

But it works...
