Thanks - I might end up using one of the non-logitech config software  
options but for anyone else with this problem the quick fix is to  
edit /Library/InputManagers/LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader/Info and change  
the LoadBundleOnLaunch to NO.

Seems fine now.
