thanks but that doesn't help either. perhaps acrobat 8 is the problem  
and i should try acrobat 7. anyway, i decided to set

	V=${TM_LATEX_VIEWER:-pdfview}

and let pdfpreview show the file in a different window. it's not  
important to get the review within the html window.
