The issue mentioned at the wiki, yes.

As for only starting from Terminal -- when you do “mate” in the  
Terminal, this program only sends a message to the real TextMate  
application, which will be started just as if it had been double  
clicked in Finder. So I would be surprised if that’s the pattern.
