[TxMt] Unable to create files from templates

No -- but it does use a shell script to do the work, so this might be  
the heart of the problem.

To verify that TM can use your shell, create a new document and write  
the following, and press ctrl-R after the line (to execute it as a  
shell command):

    date

Please also try the File -> New From Template to see if this one is  
also faulty.
