For the records, the best approach is to set MANSECT yourself, e.g.  
in Preferences -> Advanced -> Shell Variables.

If you set it to 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9 it will search all sections.

I do plan to change it so that it fallbacks on section 1, if it  
doesn’t find a match in section 2-9.

The reason I exclude section 1 is that many system functions exist  
also as a shell command, and I use the man lookup mainly for the former.
