My /usr/bin/ruby is version 1.8.2 that comes with OS X 10.4. I have
1.8.4 in /usr/local/bin/ruby, and in my .bash_profile I have:
export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH

According to the link you provided earlier, Textmate should honor that
PATH setting, right?
