But no-one sends their pages as application/xhtml+xml, so even though  
people like to use XHTML markup, their pages are interpreted as HTML  
by the browser, and in that mode a script tag ends when the first  
occurrence of ‘</’ is seen -- so I don’t see any advantage in  
introducing the proposed noisy comments.
