I checked out the latest from their subversion repository.  The first  
thing I noticed is that this project does not appear to be moving  
very fast, if at all.  I built the r1474 snapshot from last  
november.  The svn repo is only at 1482.  Anyway after I built it  
still doesn't look like utf8 is supported.  After digging around to  
make sure I had the right options enabled I discovered that UTF-8  
support still has a Pending status.
