The problem (most likely) was that you were still in 'record macro' 
mode.

There is an indicator in the lower right corner, but I should probably 
give some sort of feedback when trying to use the mouse in this 
situation :)

I would also like to visually indicate when the user has enabled 
freehanded editing. Ideas are welcome!
