I'd echo the comments about the key with cog idea - I've seen several 
apps using a single key as the icon.

I really like the second iteration of version 1 - the one with Matey 
and the braces. Admittedly, Matey could be given a makeover, but the 
idea is good and far cleaner than with the yellow typewriter.
