I didn’t study the code, but it seems to not really do incremental  
display of the command output.

In addition to flushing stdout, it is necessary to convert \n to <br>  
inside <pre> to get WebKit to do incremental display -- probably this  
is why the command output now doesn’t show until after the commit.
