It now gives me:

    “Unknown MySQL server host '127.0.0.1:1234”

This is the proper host and port. So I guess this is a problem of the  
Python MySQL driver!?! I am using MySQL 4.1.13.

If there is a small example that tests the driver, I could play a  
little with that.
