• for command line tools, TextMate runs the target via Terminal (as graceful as possible, e.g. starting by clearing the buffer, allowing the user to return to TM by pressing RETURN, positioning the terminal window to counteract the automatic cascade, and gives the window the targets name as title) — for applications, TextMate will just run it via “open”
