Certainly. Or we could mark them with huge bold red flashing letters, 
and bring a pop-up asking: "Are you sure you want to be doing this?" 
with only a "No" button as a possibility ;-)

The thing that is desirable of course is something like \section{This 
is $math$}.
Btw, is there a reason that the math in an equation or eqnarray 
environment is not colored the same way as inline math?  I do prefer 
the way the math in environment is colored, so that could be a reason I 
guess. Looking forward to the day when we'll be able to color inline 
math in a more detailed way, than with just one uniform color. At that 
point, it would probably make sense to have the same scope for the 
contents of an inline math equation and a math environment.
