I discovered that one of the reserved words wasn't spelled correct.. it was spelled 'defined'.. but the reserved word is actually named 'defined?' (yes you read correct.. the word contains a questionmark). questionmarks requires more care than other letters in regexp. Changed: U trunk/Ruby.tmbundle/Syntaxes/Ruby.plist
