As a workaround, yup. Iff I understand what you're saying: It sounds
like this is the big missing piece that the CSS-like hierarchical
system would address, because /HTML/Ruby could have, say, a different
background color than either /HTML or /Ruby. And you'd eventually want
the user to be able to alter this without editing syntax files, but
that can certainly wait.
