Hi,
I'm unable to create any templates whatsoever. Any item I choose from the New From Template menu does nothing. I don't see any errors in Console. I quit TextMate, renamed the Application Support directory and preferences directory (which effectively reverts to factory settings), and restarted TextMate, but that had no effect on the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks,
Trevor
TextMate 1.5.7 Mac OS 10.5.5
I'm seeing this too, but on OSX 10.4.11

After a little more investigation, I see that a few of the templates are still working. The ones in the Python group and the Text group work, but choosing a template from any other group (Java, XML, ActionScript, etc.) does nothing.
Are you seeing this behavior also?

Exactly as you say. The Python and Text templates work fine.
This is a real drag for me, because I use TextMate as my primary blog client :\

I'm really kind of surprised no-one else is seeing this.
Initially I thought maybe it's a Tiger related issue, but you're running Leopard. *boggle*.

Chris,
For give me as this is a first post to this listserv. So grain of salt, however Is it possible that something got messed up with the permissions on the files and folders inside your TextMate.App package? Have you tried removing it and re-installing with a fresh copy.

I'll bet you have "cd ~/Desktop" in your .bashrc or .profile. Change it to this and the problem should disappear:
if [[ $0 == "-bash" ]] then cd ~/Desktop fi
I got this tip from a prior bug report:
http://ticket.macromates.com/show?ticket_id=18D06789
I still think this is a TextMate bug, though, so I filed one:

The problem is known, both in the form of the ticket you linked to, and the follwoing troubleshooting pages:
http://wiki.macromates.com/Troubleshooting/Templates
http://wiki.macromates.com/Troubleshooting/ShellCommands
As I have previously stated, sourcing shell files was (in retrospect) a bad idea, but it’s how it presently works, and I don’t plan to change it in the 1.x line, sorry.
