yeah, from the quick research i did that's what most people were saying. however, having it as a 'checkbox option' in the prefs would give those who believe it's bad design the ability not to use it, and those who like it that way the ability TO use it. but from what i also read, it might be a little hairy to implement...

I'm pretty sure the conclusion was that it's a bad design element to
have multi-line tab bars. I at least dislike it in Windows, and it
could also be hard to make it look 'right', but... :-p.
