I don't have this problem, but I'm not on 10.6.5.

I can enter ê with option + e or ^ then e.

Tested on 2 systems. Both in english w/ belgian(french) locals and keyboards. One on 10.6.4 the other on 10.6.3.

(Just tested: Working with french keyboard too.)
