Well, i dont now .. 
but isn't there a way to see how http://www.paniris.com/wordpressdash/ did it?
As seen in the screenshot you can save as "draft" 
It's specially for wordpress so it can't be a limit on that side .. 
the only drawback could be that the widget doesn't use the xmlrpc

I'm only for 4 months on mac now (because of textmate :-) ) .. so i don;t know the basics
