It installs in a matter of a few seconds. Fink is certainly worth the time if you plan to install a range of other things as well. I believe there is a compile option with Subversion that can be set to make it retain compatibility with pre 1.4.1 repositories/working copies. If you don't have that worry, the 1.4.3 installer should have you working in a minute or two.
