Someone had a similiar issue on IRC and was able to reproduce it outside 
TextMate by running something like “find /path/to/folder|wc -l” — 
here the number of files found would initially be too low.

I don’t recall the exact circumstances, but our conclusion was that 
the issue was with sshfs.
