The only workaround is to re-assign the key binding¹ to something reachable.

Keys have been chosen to make sense on a US keymap and unfortunately does not work well on some European layouts, but for normal coding, many European layouts really suck (like requiring two modifier keys to type a backslash), so many European coders actually use the US keymap.
