I believe that itself is a symbolic link, and it is the target for  
that symbolic link you seem to be missing -- do you have /Applications/ 
TextMate.app/Contents/SharedSupport/Support/bin/mate?

If not, do you have /Applications/TextMate.app/Contents/SharedSupport/ 
Support?
