Takaaki Kato did the start of a Japanese translation.

As for the actual program, in 2.0 I am using string tables where  
appropriate, but as Michael mentioned, the real challenge is the  
bundles, and we have no system in place for this.  I guess the most  
obvious approach here would be to use catalogs, but not sure how  
broadly this is supported, e.g. can you get a catalog string in a  
shell script?
