[txmt-dev] Shell Script – “Open Terminal” optionally using new tab

I’ve customized the “Open Terminal” command to open a new tab (instead 
of reusing the current tab / window). I’d love to prepare a pull 
request. However, I don’t want to replace the old behaviour, and having 
a new separate command “Open Terminal (new Tab)” seems a bit too much. 
Could this be  controlled by some kind of setting? If yes, how?
